We are right in the middle of the chaos at Chatta Bazar, specifically at number 352 in Gali Peer Punch. If you know the Holi Gate area, you know how crowded it gets with shoppers and carts. Our place is tucked into one of those narrow streets where the sunlight barely reaches the ground. We deal with all sorts of imported goods and local trading items, so the shop is usually packed to the ceiling with crates and cardboard boxes. You have to watch your step when you come in. There’s always someone shouting outside or a bell ringing from a passing bicycle. We spend our time checking invoices and making sure the deliveries arrived at the warehouse correctly. It’s a lot of back-and-forth with the transport guys. We’ve been here a long time, so we know all the other traders on the street. Sometimes we sit on the stools outside and watch the crowds go by while we wait for a customer. The walls are a bit stained from years of use, and the door creaks every time someone opens it. We don’t have a website or anything like that; people just know us by word of mouth or by stumbling upon us in the bazaar. It’s a loud, busy way to make a living, but we wouldn’t know what to do with ourselves in a quiet office. It keeps us on our toes.
