About Shri Manmohan Chitrashala – Art & Craft in Mathura
It's just a small place inside Building No. 1604. Shri Manmohan Chitrashala is basically where we spend most of our daylight hours. It’s got a lot of history inside these walls, even if the outside looks like any other building. We handle a lot of different things here, mostly involving images and prints. It’s a bit dusty sometimes because of all the paper and frames lying around. My father started this a long time ago, and I just took over when he couldn't do it anymore. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where Building 1604 is and they walk up the stairs. The light in the back room is better for the fine work, so that's where I usually sit. We have some old machines that still work better than the new ones people try to sell us. It gets quiet in the afternoons, which is nice for focusing. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat for a bit. We don't mind. The work takes as long as it takes, and we don't like to rush it just to be fast. It's about getting the colors right. The name on the door is starting to peel a little, but everyone knows it's us. We just keep the doors open and do the work day by day. We usually close for an hour at lunch to go get some food from the stall nearby. It keeps us focused for the rest of the day.
