Chotto Ram & Sons

Chotto Ram & Sons is a small family setup located at B-46 in Nai Mandi. My grandfather started this a long time ago, and the name just stuck. Most people in the mandi know us by now. The shop isn’t very big, and it’s usually crowded with bags and ledgers. We spend most of our mornings here, right from when the sun comes up. Nai Mandi is always loud with tractors and people shouting, so you get used to the noise after a while. My brother and I sit here together, usually drinking tea while we wait for the next load to arrive. We deal with whatever comes in for the season. Some days are incredibly slow, and we just sit and talk about the weather or the news. Other days, we don't even have time to eat lunch because it’s so frantic. Our walls are a bit peeling, and the floor is scratched from moving heavy stuff around for years. We don’t really bother with renovations because the work gets done anyway. We have some regular folks who have been coming to us for twenty years. They just walk in, sit down, and we know what they need. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned way of doing things, I guess. No computers for the main work, just pens and paper mostly. It works for us and keeps things simple. Our family has always been about sticking to what we know and helping out our neighbors when we can.
