Innovative Slate Stones

Out on Arabindo Ghosh Street in the Prakasam District, you’ll find us at H. No. 3/1. Innovative Slate Stones is where we spend our time. Slate is a different kind of beast compared to granite. It flakes and layers, so you have to be careful with how you handle it. The street is usually quiet, which is nice, but our yard is anything but once the work starts. We have stacks of slate piled up, and they have these nice earthy colors that look good even when they are covered in dust. The Prakasam District has a lot of stone history, and we are just a small part of that. We don't have a big marketing team or a website that looks like a magazine. It’s just us and the stone. Sometimes the slabs come in thicker than we expected, and we have to adjust everything. It is a lot of physical work, lifting and carrying, but it keeps you fit. We’ve had neighbors come by just to see the different colors we have sitting out front. The office is just a room where we keep the records and escape the sun for a bit. We just try to be honest about what we have in stock. If a piece has a crack, we say so. It’s better that way for everyone in the long run. We like the work.
