About Chaolung Sukaphaa Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Marigaon
We are based out in Kachari Gaon, which is a small village near Kathiatoli in the Nowgaon district. Being in a village means things move a bit slower here, which we actually like quite a bit. The foundation is named after Chaolung Sukaphaa because his history matters a lot to the people in this part of Assam. We don't have a big office building or anything like that. Most of our meetings happen in a small room or even outside under the trees if the weather is nice. We spend our time talking to the local folks about our heritage and keeping our traditions alive for the next generation. It's not a job that makes anyone rich, but it feels important to us. Life in Nowgaon is simple. We deal with the seasons as they come. Sometimes the roads to the village get a bit muddy during the monsoon, but people still find their way to us. We don't use much technology, mostly just word of mouth and gathering together for community events in the village. We try to help out the younger generation understand where they came from. It's just a local effort. No big funders or anything, just neighbors helping neighbors. If you're ever passing through Kathiatoli, you can ask anyone for directions to Kachari Gaon. We're usually around, working on something or other related to our history. It's quiet here and we like it that way.
