We are M K Shankar & Co., located at number 42 in Maragathapuram Village, near Koliyanur. It’s a quiet area compared to the city, which suits us just fine. Our business isn't very complicated. We mostly deal with local goods and supplies that the people in the village and surrounding farms need. The building is an old one, but it holds up well against the rain. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have lived around here our whole lives. Most of our day is spent talking to people who stop by and moving stock around. We don't use any high-tech systems. A simple ledger book is where we write everything down. Sometimes the village roads get a bit muddy after a storm, making it hard for deliveries to reach us, but we manage. We aren't looking to become some big corporation. We like the way things are, knowing our neighbors and providing what’s necessary for the local area. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till evening. There’s a certain rhythm to life in Maragathapuram, and our shop is just a small part of that. We open up the shutters, set out the chairs, and wait to see who stops by for a chat or a purchase. We take pride in just being a reliable part of the village where anyone can drop in.
