Dinesh Auto Spare Parts

I have been at Shop No 4 for a long time now. It’s right there in the Sc Seper Building, near where the old Mapusa clinic used to be. Most people around here still use the clinic as a landmark even though things have changed. Dinesh Auto Spare Parts is just a small shop, but we try to keep it packed with everything someone might need for their car or bike. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling, and sometimes I need a ladder just to find a specific spark plug or a fan belt. It gets dusty, and the floor is never really clean because people are always bringing in greasy old parts to show me what they need replaced. I don’t have a computer to track the inventory; I just sort of know where everything is kept. Mapusa is a busy town, and on market days, the traffic outside is just crazy. I usually have a radio playing some old songs in the background to pass the time when it’s quiet. My nephew helps me out in the evenings after his classes. We aren't trying to grow into some huge chain of stores. I am happy just being the local guy people come to when their vehicle starts making a funny noise. It’s a lot of manual work, looking through old catalogs and matching part numbers. Sometimes we don’t have what you want, but I can usually tell you who does.
