Nursery

The Nursery is over in Ward No.14, specifically in Alok Colony. We are right near D.A.V. Public School, so during the day, we hear the kids playing and the school bells ringing. It is a green space in the middle of the neighborhood. We spend our days digging in the dirt, watering the saplings, and making sure everything is growing like it should. There is always mud on our boots and dirt under our fingernails. It is a quiet kind of work, mostly. We have different sections for flowers, shrubs, and some small trees. The weather really dictates what we do each day. If it is raining, we are out there checking the drainage. If it is hot, we are busy with the hose and the water tanks. People from the colony come in to get a few plants for their balconies or yards. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who like being outdoors. Sometimes the plants don't do well, and we have to figure out why. It takes a lot of patience. We don't have a fancy showroom, just rows of pots sitting on the ground. It feels good to see something grow from a small seed into a full plant. The school nearby keeps the area feeling lively even on quiet days. We just keep doing what we do, season after season, without making much of a fuss about it.
