We are over at Shop No.3 on Dharur Road. Most days start pretty early when we roll up the metal shutters here in Azad Nagar. It gets quite dusty out in this part of Manjlegaon, especially with all the heavy traffic heading past the MRF Tyre Showroom. Most people usually find our place because of that big tyre sign nearby. Inside the garage, it is mostly what you would expect from a local shop. There are tools scattered on the wooden benches and old oil stains on the floor that never really come out no matter how much we scrub them. We spend most of our time leaning under hoods and trying to figure out why a particular engine is making a strange clicking sound or why a belt is slipping. It is not fancy work, but it keeps us busy from morning until night. Sometimes the tea stall guy from down the street brings over some hot chai while we are elbow-deep in a truck or a small car. We have been in this exact spot for a good while now. The whole neighborhood knows us by now. If you are coming from the main road, just look for the row of shops right near the tyre place. We don't have a big fancy waiting room or anything like that. People just lean against the wall or sit on an old plastic chair while we finish up the job. It is just us here, getting our hands dirty and making sure the vehicles are okay.
