Sona Pet Industries

Our unit is situated right at the Elemkur Road junction in Thrikkalangode. It’s a handy spot for the trucks to pull in and out without getting stuck. We’ve been running Sona Pet Industries from this location for a while now. The building is just a simple structure with a tin roof that gets loud when it rains. Inside, it's mostly the sound of the blow molding machines running. We make plastic jars and various pet containers for local suppliers. It’s a lot of hard work, especially when the weather gets humid. We don’t really do any advertising. People around here just know where we are. The office is just a corner of the warehouse with a phone and some ledgers. Sometimes the kids from the village stop by to watch the machines through the gate. We keep things pretty informal. If someone needs a small order of jars, we usually help them out. The electricity can be a bit unreliable, so we have a generator that makes a lot of noise. We spend our time checking the shapes and making sure the cooling system is working. It’s a practical business. No one here wears a suit or tie. We wear overalls and get our hands dirty with grease and plastic. It’s just how it goes when you’re running a small plastic works in a place like this. We just keep moving and get the orders out to our customers on time.
