Sona Pet Industries

We are located on Elamkoor Road in Thrikkanamkode. It’s a quiet part of Malappuram compared to the main town area. Sona Pet Industries is basically a small factory where we process plastic materials. We have a few machines that run most of the day. The neighbors know us well because we've been in this building for a few years now. It’s not a very glamorous business. There’s a lot of heat from the molding machines and the smell of raw plastic is always there in the air. We have a small crew of about ten people. Most of them live in the village nearby and walk to work every morning. We usually start the day with a quick check on the raw material stock. If the truck is late, everything gets delayed. That happens more often than I’d like. We don't have a big fancy office. Most of the work happens right on the floor. I usually sit at a wooden desk near the loading area to keep an eye on things. The roads here are okay, but during the monsoon, everything slows down quite a bit. We make bottles and containers mostly. It’s straightforward stuff. We don't have any big slogans or goals. We just try to make sure the lids fit the bottles and the plastic isn't too thin or brittle. That's what our customers care about anyway. It's a decent living and we like being part of the local community here in Malappuram.
