St Thomas School Of Music

Up on the first floor—or the 1St First Floor as some of the older paperwork says—of the Subraya Pai Building, you’ll find us. It’s right by the Urva Store Junction, which is a busy corner in Mangalore, so there’s always something going on outside the window. St Thomas School Of Music isn’t a huge conservatory or anything like that. It’s more of a place where kids and adults from around Urwa come to learn an instrument after work or school. We have a few rooms set up for practice. Sometimes you can hear the violins or the piano from the street if the windows are open on a hot day. It’s not always perfectly quiet, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. The stairs going up are a bit narrow, so you have to watch your step when you are carrying a guitar case or a heavy bag. We’ve been in this building for a bit now. Most of the folks who come here live nearby or pass through the junction on their way home. We don’t have a big fancy lobby. Just some plastic chairs for parents to sit while they wait for the lessons to finish. It’s a simple setup for people who just want to play music. We try to keep the schedules organized, though sometimes things run a little late if a student is struggling. It’s just a normal music school.
