The Unity Health Complex is where we are based, right in the Kankanady area. Our mailing address is P.B. No. 535, but most people just know the building because it has been a landmark in Kankanady for a very long time. It is a big, busy place with a lot of different departments and people rushing through the hallways. We handle general health services, so the variety of things we see in a single day is quite broad. The floors are made of that old-style tile, and the smell of antiseptic is pretty much everywhere. It is not the kind of place where you come for luxury, but it is reliable and stays open regardless of what is happening outside in the city. Our staff members are mostly local people who have been working in health services for years. They know how to handle the crowds when the morning OPD gets packed. There are benches lined up against the walls for people to sit on while they wait for their names to be called. We do not have fancy digital displays everywhere, just simple signs and a lot of paper forms that keep the records straight. Life here revolves around the shift changes and the arrival of the ambulances. It is a constant cycle of patients coming in and going home, and we just facilitate that process as part of the Kankanady community.
