National Dairy Development Board

We’ve been based out of the Gajanan Compound in Kulshekar for a while now. Most people around Mangalore know the spot, tucked away near Prakash Prabhu’s place. It’s a busy office, mostly because there is always something going on with the local dairy farmers and the milk supply chains we handle here. You’ll usually see a few of us running around with charts or checking on the logistics of how the milk gets from the rural parts into the city. It isn’t a fancy building, just a practical space where we can sit down and get the paperwork done. The morning starts early because cows don’t wait for office hours, so there’s often someone here before the sun is fully up. We spend a lot of time talking to the cooperatives and making sure the cooling centers are doing what they should. Sometimes the rain in Mangalore makes things a bit slow, especially when the roads in Kulshekar get muddy, but we manage. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the numbers match up at the end of the day. We don’t have much in the way of decor, just desks, some old filing cabinets, and the smell of tea brewing in the corner. People drop in all the time to ask about subsidies or training, so it stays fairly lively. It’s just us doing the daily grind to keep the dairy side of things moving along without too much fuss.
