We are located in Pakeernakatte, which is right in the Mallar Kaup area of Udupi. It is a pretty well-known spot around this part of the country. Most people know us for the insurance work we do. The office itself is very simple, just containing what we need to get the documents processed and help local people with their various claims. We are situated right in the middle of the local community here. Kaup is quite famous for its old lighthouse and the beach, but our daily life is more about sitting at our desks and going through tall stacks of files. The weather in coastal Karnataka can be really tough on the old computers and the paper, so we try to keep the place as ventilated as we can. We meet a lot of different people every single day. Some are worried about their cars, while others are asking about their health coverage. We listen to their stories and try our best to sort out the complicated paperwork for them. It is not the most exciting job in the world, but it is important for the folks living around Mallar. We have a small tea stall just a few steps away where we go during our short breaks. The office isn't anything fancy at all, just some sturdy chairs and tables and a lot of blue folders. We've been here long enough that people just walk in without an appointment sometimes. We don't mind the interruptions.
