Shiva Book Store

Shiva Book Store is located at 601, M C Road in Mandya. We are right across from the Factory Circle, which is a pretty easy landmark to find if you're in the area. The shop is filled with stacks of books that reach almost to the ceiling in some places. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we usually know where everything is if you give us a minute to look. We sell a bit of everything, from school textbooks to local magazines. The dust gets on everything, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the covers. On hot days, the ceiling fan just pushes the warm air around, but we stay open anyway. We see a lot of students coming in before their exams, looking a bit stressed. We also have the regulars who just want to chat about the news. The road outside is always busy with trucks and buses going past the circle. It’s a bit noisy, but you get used to it after a week or two. We don't have a fancy computer to scan books; we still write down most of our sales in a big ledger. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. We aren't trying to be a big chain or anything. We just want to provide the books that people need and stay part of the Mandya community. It’s a simple life.
