Prakash Paints

We are located right in the Rapcms Compound on Mysore Road here in Mandya. It is a busy spot, especially with all the trucks and traffic moving toward the city. Prakash Paints isn't one of those shiny showrooms you see in the big malls. It is more of a dusty place filled with stacks of paint tins and those big mixing machines that make a lot of noise when they are running. My father worked in this trade, and I just sort of fell into it after school. We spend most of the morning unloading deliveries and helping painters figure out which shade of white is actually the one they want. It’s harder than it looks because the light in the shop is different from the light in a real house. Sometimes we get the floor all covered in drips, but we try to keep it clean for the customers. Mandya is a good place to be, even if it gets really hot in the afternoons. We usually have a fan going near the front desk where the ledger sits. Most of the people who come in are neighbors or local contractors we have known for a long time. They don't want a sales pitch, they just want to know if the stock is in and if the price is fair. We just try to keep the shelves full and the brushes in stock for whenever someone decides to finally repaint their fence.
