David Book Corner

David Book Corner is tucked away at Door No. 1748 in Christian Colony. If you know the 5th Cross area, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times without thinking much of it. The shop is managed by M D Sunder, and we’ve been keeping these shelves full for a long time. It’s a quiet corner of the neighborhood, which suits us just fine. Inside, it smells like old paper and ink, mostly because we have books stacked up to the ceiling in some places. We don't have a computer system that tells us exactly where everything is; we just sort of know the piles. Sometimes a customer comes in looking for something specific, and we spend twenty minutes digging through a crate together. It’s more of a conversation than a transaction. We get a lot of locals who just want to browse while they wait for their laundry or something. The lighting isn't the best, and the floor creaks near the back, but it feels like home to us. We aren't trying to compete with those big online stores. We just like having a physical place where people can actually hold a book before they decide to take it. We open up early most days, grab a tea from the stall nearby, and wait for the regulars. It’s a slow pace, but we like it that way. We don't need much else besides a good crowd of readers.
