Ambulance - st John Ambulance Association has its base at 1990 3rd Cross in Subhash Nagar. It is a busy little spot, and we have been here for quite a while. Our work is pretty different from a standard office because most of it happens out on the road. We have the vehicles parked here, and we spend a good amount of time cleaning them and making sure all the medical supplies inside are stocked up. You never really know when the phone is going to ring, so there is a lot of sitting around waiting and then suddenly having to move very quickly. Subhash Nagar is a packed area, so getting the ambulances in and out of the narrow streets can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. The drivers know the shortcuts, though. We are not a corporate entity with fancy brochures. We are just a group of people who operate an ambulance service. Some days are very long, and we end up eating our lunch in the front seat of the van. We don't have a mission statement or any of that. We just focus on getting to people when they call and making sure the equipment is in good shape. It’s practical, everyday work. The office itself is simple, mostly just a place to keep the records and take the calls. We just keep our heads down and do what needs to be done.
