You can find us over in Civil Bazar in Dharamshala, specifically at Om Singh Gurung’s place. It’s a busy part of town, so there is always something going on outside our door. We’ve been working out of this spot in Kangra for a while now. Himachal Pradesh is a beautiful place to live, but it comes with its own set of challenges when you’re trying to run a foundation. We aren’t a big organization with lots of employees. It’s just a few of us who care about what happens in our neighborhood. We don’t have a flashy website or a big sign outside. Most people hear about us through word of mouth. We deal with things as they come up. Some days are quieter than others, but there is always a list of things to get through. Living in Dharamshala means we see a lot of people passing through, but we just look at the local side of things. It’s a practical way of living and working. We try not to overcomplicate stuff. If there’s a problem, we look for a way to fix it without making a big fuss. That’s just the way it goes here in the bazaar. We’re glad to be part of the community here and we just keep plugging away at the work we’ve started. It keeps us busy and out of trouble most days, and the mountains keep us humble.
