Pahari Tribe Story Foundation

We are at Palash Villa in Navbahar, right near the Moto World shop. If you know Arun Negi, that’s where we are based. We started this foundation because we felt that the stories of our pahari tribes were getting lost. People these days are always in a hurry and they forget the old ways. We wanted to have a place where these stories could be kept alive. It’s not a fancy setup. We just have a few rooms where we meet and talk. We aren't historians or professors. We are just local people who care about our roots. We spend a lot of time talking to the older people in the villages. They have so much knowledge that isn't written in books. We try to listen and record what they say. Navbahar can be a busy area, but once you step into the villa, it’s much quieter. We don't have a big budget for ads. People usually find us because they are also interested in tribe history. Arun handles most of the daily stuff. We don't have a corporate structure. It’s more like a group of friends working on a project together. We don't have a mission statement or a five-year plan. We just want to make sure the next generation knows where they came from. It’s slow, steady work. We enjoy the process and the people we meet along the way. It feels very important to us and we just keep going.
