Nishi Social Services Foundation

We are located in Sarkaghat, Mandi, right at Narpat Singh’s place. It’s a quiet spot and that suits us just fine. Some people call the area Sarkaghar, but either way, we are easy to find. We do social service work, but we don't like to make a big deal out of it. It’s just about helping people around here when they need it. Being in a place like Mandi, you get to know everyone pretty quick. We aren't a big foundation with a lot of money. We are just a few local folks who wanted to spend our time doing something better than just sitting around. We don't have a fancy board of directors or anything like that. Narpat is the one who keeps things running. Sometimes the work is hard and sometimes it’s just about talking to a neighbor who is having a tough time. We don't have a corporate mission or anything. We just wake up and see what the day needs from us. The winters can be a bit slow because of the cold, but we still manage to stay busy. People know they can come to us if they are in a bind. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do. It’s just plain social service for our community. We’ve been here for a while and we plan to stay. It’s a good way to live, being useful to the people you see every day.
