My office is up here in Mandi, right in Himachal Pradesh. My father is Roop Lal Bhardwaj, and many people in this area know him, which helps when they are looking for our place. It is a small town vibe here. The weather changes fast, and sometimes the mist comes right down into the streets. Our office is not anything special to look at. We have a few old wooden chairs for people to sit on while they wait and a big desk where I keep all the forms and documents. Being part of LIC means a lot of people come to us with questions about their future or their families. They walk in from the nearby villages, often looking a bit tired from the bus ride. I try to have the heater on in the winter because it gets very cold in these mountains. We don't have any flashy advertisements. Most of our work comes from people just knowing our family or seeing the sign when they walk past. I spend a lot of time explaining things and filling out paperwork by hand. It can be slow work, and sometimes the internet doesn't want to cooperate, but we get it done eventually. I like the view from the window when I take a break. It is a quiet life compared to the big cities, and we prefer it that way. Just a local person helping neighbors with their plans, one file at a time.
