Jagdamba Spices is based in Village-Salang, which is up in the Mandi district. Being in a village like this means we are surrounded by hills and the air is usually pretty fresh, unless we are grinding a lot of pepper or chili. Then the air gets a bit sharp. We have a small building where we do all our spice work. It is not a modern facility with glass walls or anything. It is just a practical space where we can get the job done. Life in Salang is quiet, and that suits us just fine. We don't have a big team of people, just a few of us who have lived in Mandi for most of our lives. We know the spices well because we have been around them since we were kids. There isn't much to our story other than we wanted to start something of our own here in the village. We don't use fancy packaging or spend money on advertisements. Most people find out about us just by talking to others in the district. We keep the equipment clean and try to work as hard as we can. Some days are long and the work is tiring, but that is what you expect when you are working for yourself. We just take things one day at a time and try to stay consistent with what we produce here in Salang. It isn't always easy, but we just keep going.
