Up here in Mandi, specifically in Village Slapper, we have our local setup for Itd Cementation India Limited. Our office isn’t anything special to look at—just a sturdy building where we keep our logs and tools. We drink a lot of tea to stay warm when the weather gets cold. The locals in Slapper know us by now, as we’ve been around for several projects. We don’t use big words or fancy presentations to explain what we do. We just show up and start digging or pouring concrete. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait, but that’s just life in the hills. We try to keep our footprint small and our work solid. It’s a lot of manual labor and technical planning mixed together. We don’t have a marketing department; we just have our reputation and the structures we leave behind. It’s a tough environment, but we’re used to the altitude. We just keep our heads down and finish the projects we started.
