Hotel Radisson, Jalandhar

This is a bit of a unique situation because while the name says Hotel Radisson in Jalandhar, our specific contact point here is in Vasantpur Camp. I am Umakant, and I work here along with some others in this part of Mandi district. We handle the administrative side and some of the back-end details for the business from this location. It is a long way from the actual hotel building in the city. Out here in the Sarkaghat area, life moves much slower than it does in a big hotel lobby. We deal with the correspondence and the records that keep things running. The post office in Sandhole is where all our mail goes, and we go there often. It might seem a bit odd to have a big hotel name linked to a village address in Himachal, but that is how our records are set up. We spend our time going through logs and checking that staff details are all correct. It is a lot of manual work and looking at long lists. The weather here in Mandi is quite different from Jalandhar, especially when it rains. We do not have any fancy rooms or a big reception here. It is just a practical space where we can focus on the work. We have to be very careful with the documents because they have to be sent back and forth. Sometimes the mountain roads make things slow, but we just keep at it. It is the behind-the-scenes part of the hospitality business.
