Golden Laminates

Up in the Tarna Hills of Mandi, you’ll find us at Golden Laminates. Our place is House Number 64/11, and being in Himachal Pradesh means we deal with some interesting weather, especially when the rains come. The shop is filled with samples of different wood finishes and heavy sheets of laminate leaning against the walls. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when we get a big shipment in. We spend our days helping local carpenters and homeowners pick out what they need for their kitchens or cupboards. The air is usually fresh up here, though the climb up the hill can be a bit much for some of the delivery trucks. We don't have a fancy website or a digital catalog; we just show people the actual materials so they can feel the texture. There’s usually a thin layer of sawdust on everything because of the cutting we do in the back. Our desk is tucked away in the corner under a bright lamp where we keep track of the sales in a big handwritten book. We’ve been part of the Mandi community for a while now, and most of our customers are people we see at the market every week. It’s a slow-paced way of doing business, but it suits the hills. We close up when the sun goes behind the mountains and head home like everyone else in the neighborhood.
