Chittar Singh Prag Devi Foundation

Chittar Singh Prag Devi Foundation is situated right opposite the Sabzi Mandi gate. We are care of Babi, and this spot is about as central as it gets in this neighborhood. Being right across from the vegetable market gate means there is never a dull moment. From five in the morning, you can hear the shouting and the movement of crates. Our office is a simple place where we manage our affairs. It is not a shiny corporate suite. We have some basic furniture and a lot of files that need tending to. Babi is usually the one making sure the door is open and the tea is ready for anyone who drops by. We get a lot of foot traffic because of the location. People know the "foundation across from the gate," so we don't need to explain ourselves much. The walls are a bit plain, and we could probably use some better lighting, but it works for us. We focus on the work at hand rather than how the office looks. Most days involve talking to people from the market or the local residents. It is a very community-focused spot. We don't have any big missions or fancy goals written on the walls. We just show up every day, open the doors, and do what needs to be done. It is just a regular part of our lives.
