Ms Para Boiled Rice Mill

The mill is right here near the water tank in Adilabad. It gets pretty dusty inside when the machines are going. We have been at Door No. 10-213 on Rp Poad for a while now. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot because the heat in this district can be tough. The sacks come in and we get to work. It’s not a quiet place. You can hear the hulling machines from down the road. Some people find it loud but to us, it’s just the sound of the day starting. We deal mostly with boiled rice. There is a lot of lifting involved. Sometimes the rain makes things difficult with the transport but we manage. The building isn't anything fancy to look at. Just a practical space for the work we do. People around here know where we are because of the landmark. My clothes usually have a bit of rice husk on them by noon. It is hard work but it keeps us busy. We don't have a big office or anything. Just the mill floor and the storage area. We try to keep things moving so the rice doesn't sit too long. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to wait it out. That's how it goes in this part of town. We just focus on the grain and making sure the bags are filled right before they head out. I usually sit by the entrance when the trucks arrive. My brother helps with the records. We see the same faces every week. Adilabad has its own rhythm.
