Operating out of Mount Poonamallee Road keeps us right in the middle of all the noise and dust. We usually have a few piles of sand or bags of cement sitting around the yard, depending on what we are working on that week. It is a messy business, and our clothes usually show it by lunchtime. There is always a lot of clanging sounds coming from our spot, whether it is someone moving pipes or just loading up the back of a pickup truck. The traffic outside is constant, so getting materials in and out takes a bit of planning so we don't get stuck for an hour. We aren't a giant operation with hundreds of people, just a small crew that knows how to handle a shovel and a level. We spend most of our time out at different sites, so the office is often empty except for maybe one person answering the phone. The desks are covered in drawings and old coffee cups. It’s the kind of place where you can’t really wear nice shoes because you’ll just ruin them in five minutes. We’ve been at this location for a while now, and the neighbors are used to the sound of our engines starting up early. We just focus on getting the walls up straight and making sure the concrete sets right. It’s hard work, but it fills the day and keeps us busy.
