Shri Sham Rice Mills

Shri Sham Rice Mills is situated on Budhlada Road. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there is always noise from the passing traffic. We have been operating here for a good while. The mill itself is pretty old-fashioned. We have the usual setup with the conveyors and the drying floors. When the harvest comes in, the whole place turns into a bit of a hive. There are people everywhere, and the piles of grain seem to grow overnight. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just focus on the rice. The workers here are mostly from around the neighborhood. We know each other's families and what’s going on in the town. Budhlada Road is where we spend most of our waking hours. Sometimes the power goes out and everything goes quiet for a bit, which is actually a nice break from the constant rattling of the machines. We just sit outside and wait for it to come back on. There is a lot of maintenance involved in keeping an old mill like this running. One day it’s a motor, the next it’s a loose floorboard. We handle it as it comes. It isn't glamorous work, but it is what we know how to do. Visitors usually just walk right in because we don't really have a formal front desk. It's just a working rice mill.
