Hastkala Emporium

Our place, Hastkala Emporium, is located on Kairon Road. If you know where Peace Park Guest House is, we are right across from it, and Hotel Kuranji is just nearby. It’s a good little spot because people often walk by on their way to the park. Inside, we’ve got all sorts of things piled up. It’s not the most organized shop, but that’s part of the charm, I think. We have shelves filled with different items, and sometimes you have to move one thing to see what’s behind it. The lighting is a bit soft, and it smells a bit like old wood and dust. We spend our days talking to people who come in and showing them what we have in stock. It’s a slow pace most of the time, which suits us just fine. We don’t have a website or any of that. If people want to see what we have, they just come in and look around. My sister helps me out on the weekends, but mostly it’s just me here. We’ve been at this location for years, and we know most of the other shopkeepers on Kairon Road. It feels like a small community. We don’t try to be anything we’re not. We just have a shop with some interesting things, and we’re happy to be here. Sometimes we just sit by the door and watch the people going into the park. It’s a nice way to spend the afternoon when things are quiet. We hope to stay here for a long time, just keeping the doors open.
