Gupta Industries is located right near the railway crossing on G.T Road in Malout. You can’t really miss us if you’re stuck waiting for the train to pass, which happens pretty often around here. The sound of the horns and the rumble of the tracks is just something we live with every day. Inside the gate, it’s mostly just us handling the day-to-day operations. It gets pretty dusty with all the traffic coming off the main road, so we’re always sweeping up. We handle a lot of different metal parts and industrial supplies. The warehouse floor is usually covered in stuff waiting to be moved or sorted. We don't really have a big marketing team or anyone like that; it’s mostly just the guys who know the inventory inside out. Sometimes the power goes out in Malout and everything goes quiet for a bit, so we just sit outside and wait for it to come back on. It’s a practical kind of life. We’ve been here long enough that most of the truck drivers know the turn-off by heart. The office is small and usually has a stack of old ledgers and tea cups on the table. We don't bother with fancy decorations. The focus is just on the work and making sure whatever leaves the gate is what the customer asked for. It’s a lot of physical labor and staying on top of the stock levels so we don’t run out of things.
