Selokar Rice Industries

In the village of Shahpur, things usually move a bit slower, but it’s always busy at Selokar Rice Industries. We are located right in the middle of the village, so everyone around here knows our name. You can hear the mill engines starting up early every morning, which probably wakes up the neighbors. We take the raw paddy from the nearby fields and process it into rice. It is a very dusty job, and by the time we finish a shift, we are usually covered in husk bits. We don’t have any big signs or a fancy waiting room for visitors. It is just the mill, the storage sheds, and a small desk where we keep the books. We have a couple of old machines that still work great if you know their little quirks. The guys who work here are all locals from Shahpur or the nearby villages. We know each other’s families and we help out when the workload gets heavy. During the monsoon season, we have to be very careful to keep all the grain dry. A leaky roof can cause a lot of trouble, so we’re always checking the bags for any signs of moisture. It is honest, hard work that keeps us moving. We don't claim to be a giant company, but we have been here in Shahpur doing this for years and we know our business. It’s a lot of work but we’re used to it.
