Down here on Nandura Road, things stay pretty steady. Malkapur isn't the biggest place, so everyone kind of knows where the school is. We are out in the Buldhana district, and it gets quite dusty when the wind picks up. The school building has seen a lot of students come and go over the years. We have those old wooden desks that have names scratched into them from years ago. Every morning starts with the bell, which is still a bit too loud if you're standing right under it. The kids come in from the surrounding areas, some walking and some on bicycles. We spend a lot of time on the basics, just reading and writing and getting through the books. There’s a small area where they play during the break, mostly just running around or playing with a ball. The staff room is usually full of notebooks that need checking. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the afternoon slump. It’s not a shiny new place, but it works for us and the families around here. Sometimes the rain makes the road a bit muddy, but we manage. We just try to get through the lessons and make sure everyone learns something before the final bell rings. It’s just a plain, local school doing what we can with what we have.
