Satnam Brick Kiln

Satnam Brick Kiln is based in the Industrial Area of Malerkota, in Sangrur district. Being in the industrial area means there’s always something going on around us. Trucks, noise, and other businesses. Our site is pretty large because we need the space for the kiln and for drying the raw bricks. We have a lot of workers who stay nearby and they’re the ones doing the real hard work of molding the clay. I usually spend my time checking the fires and making sure the coal is being used right. Keeping the heat right is a constant job. Sangrur can get quite cold in the winter and very hot in the summer, which affects how we work. We don’t really do any big marketing. Most of our orders come from local contractors who have been buying from us for years. They know where we are in Malerkota. The office is just a small cabin with a lot of dust on the windows. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the trucks to be loaded. It’s not a fancy business, just bricks and fire. We try to keep things moving so we don’t fall behind on the orders. Sometimes the trucks get stuck in the mud if the ground is soft, so that’s another thing we have to deal with.
