Malda Buildcon Private Limited is located over on Bakhatuli Lane. We share the address with Sk. Hadi, which is the name you’ll see on the gate. It is a quiet little lane and we like it that way because we can actually hear ourselves think. The office is just a couple of rooms where we handle all the construction planning. It’s nothing fancy. We have some old wooden desks and a lot of filing cabinets that are probably too full. We spend our mornings checking in with the foremen at the different sites to see what they need. Sometimes it’s more cement, sometimes it’s just more hands. We deal with the logistical side of building, which means lots of phone calls and ledger books. We don't use much high-tech software. We prefer writing things down and keeping track of it ourselves. The lane outside is narrow, so parking is always a bit of a nightmare if someone brings a big car. We usually just walk or take a rickshaw. We’ve been working in this area for a while and know most of the suppliers by name. It’s a small operation but it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. We don't have a mission statement or a big goal. We just want to finish the current project so we can move on to the next one. It’s just about getting the work done and making sure everyone gets paid.
