United Phosphorous

United Phosphorous is located in Village Babla which is under the Meherapur post office in Malda. It is a bit of a journey to get out here if you are coming from the main town because the roads go through a lot of fields and small settlements. We are situated in the Kaliachak area which is quite a rural part of West Bengal. The office is simple and fits in with the village surroundings. We spend a lot of time dealing with things related to the local agriculture and the products we handle here. It is not like a city office at all. You might see cows or goats passing by the gate during the day. The pace of life is a bit slower but the work is still there to be done. We have a small team and we mostly look after the local distribution and talk to the farmers who come by. It gets very humid during the monsoon months and the roads can get a bit tricky with the mud. We just keep our boots by the door and carry on. There isn't any fancy lobby or receptionist here. You just walk in and talk to whoever is at the desk. We've been a part of this landscape for a while now and we just do our part in the local economy. It is honest work in a quiet corner of Malda. Not much else happens but it keeps us moving.
