Shiv Durga Steel

Operating a steel business like Shiv Durga Steel means you get used to a lot of noise and heavy lifting. We are situated on Raj Mahal Road, not too far from the English Bazar police station. Being near the P.S. makes the area feel a bit more secure, though the road itself is always crowded with trucks and people. Our yard is filled with different kinds of steel rods and sheets, and it’s usually a bit of a mess, but we know where everything is. We don't have a big marketing budget or a team of salespeople. Most of our customers come to us because they’ve been buying from us for a long time or they heard about us from a neighbor. The work is physically demanding, and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired and covered in dust. We don’t mind it much because that’s just part of the job. We keep a small office in the front where we handle the bills and the cash. It’s got a leaky roof when it rains hard, but we’ve got a bucket for that. We just focus on getting the steel loaded and shipped out to the building sites around English Bazar. There isn't any secret to how we do things. We just try to be reliable and stay on top of the stock so we don't run out when someone needs it for a project. It is hard work but we enjoy it.
