Rishipur Srirampur Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our little office is over at Saktigar in the Srirampur area of Habibpur. You’ll find it at Ujjal Kr Jha’s place. Malda is a place where agriculture is pretty much the main thing everyone talks about. We started this producer company to handle our agro business as a collective. It’s not always easy because we have to deal with a lot of different people and their schedules. Some days are just spent sitting around waiting for a truck or sorting through bags of grain. We try to stay organized, but in a busy village, things can get messy pretty fast. My neighbors are usually the ones dropping by to ask about seeds or what the weather looks like for the next week. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except during the harvest when everything happens at once. We don't have any shiny signs or anything, just a simple door where people come in. Working in Srirampur means you see the same faces every day, which is nice because we trust each other. Sometimes the paperwork for the government takes a long time and we get frustrated, but we keep going. We just want to make sure the farming in this part of Malda stays steady and we all have a way to get our crops to the market without too much trouble. It is hard work but someone has to do it for the community here.
