R. Basak

If you go to 420 More on N. K. Road, you’ll find R. Basak. This is in the Malda district, and it is a pretty well-known spot for locals. We’ve been operating out of this location for a good while. It’s a busy intersection, so there is always something going on outside the window. We handle various goods, mostly focusing on what people in Malda need for their daily work. The building isn't brand new, and it has some character, which is a polite way of saying it needs a bit of paint. But it serves its purpose. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves and a counter where we talk to customers. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. People come in, ask for what they need, and we see if we have it. N. K. Road is a main artery for the area, so we get people from all over the district stopping by. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when three trucks show up at the same time at the More. We just laugh it off and get back to work. We’ve seen many businesses come and go at this crossing, but R. Basak has stayed put. We just try to be honest about what we can do and keep things moving. It’s a simple life, and we are okay with that. Most evenings we spend just tidying up the shop and getting things ready for the next morning. It's a lot of standing on your feet, but that's how it goes.
