Hotel Kalinga

If you are traveling along NH-34, you might have seen us sitting out here in Ram Krishna Pally. We’ve been running Hotel Kalinga for a while now, providing a spot for people to stop and rest. It’s not a five-star place with gold curtains, but we have rooms and a place to sit down. Most of our guests are just passing through on the highway and need a break from driving. It can get pretty noisy with the trucks roaring past at all hours of the night. You get used to the sound after a while. We spend a lot of time cleaning rooms and making sure the kitchen has something ready to eat. It’s a family-style operation, really. We don’t have a big staff in uniforms. Usually, it’s just a few of us making sure things don't fall apart. The building has some wear and tear, like any place sitting next to a main road. We try to keep things decent. Sometimes the power goes out, which is common around here, and we have to sort that out. It’s a basic setup. We see all kinds of people coming off the road, some tired, some just looking for a quick meal. We don't have a website with fancy photos. What you see from the road is what you get. It’s just a practical stop for anyone who finds themselves on this stretch of the highway. We keep the tea hot and the beds made for whoever walks in next.
