G L Kundu & Sons has been operating out of the Bachamari Govt. Colony area in Malda for many years. It started with my grandfather and it's stayed in the family ever since. We are located right there in Bachamari, which is a pretty quiet part of town compared to the main market area. We do a bit of everything here, mostly trading and supplying whatever local needs come our way. It’s a small operation, just a few of us working in the office and the small storage space we have at the back. People in the colony know us well. They stop by to chat even if they don't need to buy anything that day. We handle our own accounts on paper mostly, though we started using a computer for some things recently to keep up with the tax stuff. The building itself is older, but it serves our purpose just fine. Malda is known for its mangoes and silk, but we deal in more general supplies that local folks need for their homes and small businesses. We don't have a big marketing team or a website. Most of our work comes from people who have known our family for decades. It's a steady life. We open early in the morning after breakfast and stay until the sun goes down. There’s always some paperwork to finish or some stock to organize on the shelves. We like the pace here in Bachamari. It’s home for us, and the business is just part of our daily life.
