This place is quite large because it’s both a medical college and a hospital. We are out in Malaparamba, in the Palachode area of Malappuram. Because it’s a teaching hospital, there are always students around, which gives the halls a lot of energy. It’s a bit of a trek to get here if you are coming from the main town, but we are the main spot for many of the surrounding villages. The campus is spread out, with different buildings for the classrooms and the hospital wards. It’s a busy place every single day. You’ll see people waiting in the outpatient areas from early in the morning, and the doctors are always on the move between the college and the clinics. We don't have the polished look of those private city hospitals, but we have everything needed to take care of the people who come here. The Kolathur via route is how most people reach us. It’s a practical environment where learning and treating go hand in hand. We deal with everything from small scrapes to bigger health issues that require staying overnight. The staff is used to the high volume of people, and we just try to keep the lines moving and the patients as comfortable as possible. It’s a big part of the local community here in Malappuram, and we just keep doing the work we’ve always done.
