Protek Engineering Solutions is located at number 3 on the Rajiv Gandhi Bypass in Karuvambram. It’s a straightforward place to find if you know the bypass at all. The office isn't anything you’d see in a magazine. It’s a workspace for people who actually do things with their hands and their heads. We have some heavy desks and a lot of technical manuals lying around. Karuvambram is a good spot for us because it’s easy to get in and out of. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in, so we are always wiping down the tables. We don't spend money on expensive decor or leather chairs. We’d rather have tools and equipment that actually work. The team here is small, and we’ve all known each other for a long time. We don't use a lot of corporate talk because nobody has time for that. If there’s a problem, we just sit down and figure out how to fix it. Usually, that involves a lot of drawing on scraps of paper and drinking too much tea. The bypass is always busy with trucks and cars, but inside we just focus on the engineering tasks at hand. It’s a bit noisy, a bit messy, and very honest. We just do the work we know how to do and try to keep our heads down. It is a simple life for us here, just dealing with one project at a time until it is done. We have a few old chairs that squeak when you sit down and the lighting isn't the best, but we don't mind.
