We started Malbarees Restaurant And Caterers Llp here in Manjeri because we just like good food and serving people. Being at KK Apartments makes it easy for locals to find us. It gets pretty busy around lunch time, especially with the catering side of things. We spend most of our mornings chopping onions and getting the spices right. It isn't a fancy place, just a kitchen where we try to get the orders out on time. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook for wedding functions, which keeps us on our toes. We have a small team here. Most of us have lived in Manjeri for a long time. The space is simple. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that, just the apartment unit turned into a workspace. You’ll usually see us running around with containers or checking the pots. We try to keep things clean and the food hot. It’s hard work, standing in the kitchen all day, but we've gotten used to the heat and the noise. People know us in the neighborhood, and that’s how we like it. We aren't trying to be a huge chain. We just want to make sure the biryani or whatever we’re cooking tastes like it should. If you walk by the apartments, you can probably smell the masala from the street. We’re just regular folks trying to make a living and keep the customers fed.
