If you are walking around Ernad in Malappuram, you will find us on the first floor of the VTS Building. It is door number 18/381D. The stairs are a bit steep, so people usually take their time coming up to see us. We have a view of the main road from the balcony, which is nice when the traffic gets stuck and you can see everything happening down there. The building is a bit older, but it stays cool enough even when the Kerala sun is really beating down in the afternoon. Inside, we have a few desks pushed together and some chairs for visitors who need to sit a bit. It is mostly quiet here unless someone brings in their kids. We spend most of our time looking at ledgers and talking to people from the nearby villages who need to sort out their small money matters. We don't use much air conditioning because the windows let in a decent breeze most days. Sometimes the printer jams and we have to spend ten minutes fixing it, which is just how things go. We keep things plain and simple because that is what our members expect. We aren't a big city office with glass walls. We are just a few local people from Malappuram working in a space that feels like home to us. Usually, we finish up around five and head back to our own houses nearby.
