Our place is on Market Road in Kappan, right in the Vengara area of Malappuram. If you have been to Market Road, you know it is always humming with people and vehicles going every which way. We handle a mix of things, mostly developing land and doing some trading on the side. It is a lot of coordinating between different people and making sure things are moving. The office can get pretty loud with all the street noise coming in, but you get used to it after a while. We aren't trying to be something we aren't; we just work on projects and try to keep things moving. Some days it feels like we are just chasing our tails with all the regulations and delays, but that is the nature of trading and building in this part of Kerala. We spend a lot of time talking to suppliers and trying to find the right materials for a fair price. It’s a lot of legwork. Malappuram is a good place to be, though, because there is always something happening. We have a small crew and we just do what needs to be done to get through the list of tasks for the day. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s ours. We just keep our heads down and focus on the work right in front of us. Working near Vengara Post means we see a lot of the same faces every day.
