You will find us at Panakkal House in the village of Vengara, specifically in the Kuzichina Kannatti Padi area. It’s a bit of a long address, but basically, we are in a house that’s been converted to hold the optical shop and the eye clinic. Malappuram has a lot of these small pockets, and Vengara is one where everyone knows each other. Panakkal House is a recognizable building for the locals. It feels more like visiting a neighbor’s home than going to a corporate office. We have the glasses displayed in some wooden cabinets we’ve had for years. There’s a small room for the eye checks, and we keep it as dark as needed. The surrounding area of Kannatti Padi is quite green, and you can see the trees from our windows. It’s quiet out here compared to the bigger towns in Kerala. Sometimes the local kids play out on the road nearby. We have a small sign out front so people don’t walk past the house. Inside, the floors are tiled and there’s a wooden bench for waiting. We don't have fancy automated systems for everything; we do things the old-fashioned way mostly. People from the village come in when they need their frames fixed or their eyes checked. It’s a relaxed pace of life here in Vengara, and we just fit right into that rhythm. This is just where we work and live.
