We are based over in Maranchery, specifically at X/51D on M.G. Road. The address says Padikkavalapil House because that’s the family place where it all started. Habitom Construction is just us trying to do a good job with the houses we build. We don't have a big fancy showroom with lights and air conditioning. It’s mostly just a desk covered in drawings and some samples of tiles that we show people when they drop by. M.G. Road is always quite busy, so there’s a lot of noise from the street, but we’ve gotten used to it. Construction is a bit of a messy business, really. You’re always worrying about the cement price or why the truck is stuck in traffic. We spend most of our time out on the sites anyway, making sure the foundation is dug right or checking the plumbing work. It’s a lot of coordinating with different people who don’t always show up when they say they will. That’s just how it goes here. We don’t really do big advertisements. Most of our work comes from people in the neighborhood who know Arumughan or have seen what we’ve done before. It’s just honest work, and we try to keep things simple. Sometimes the plans change halfway through, and we just have to figure it out and keep moving. That's the reality of building things in a local town.
